AxioMap SVG Viewer Notes
AxioMap 1.3 viewer is similar in functionality to VML-based AxioMap 1.2.8. Both viewers can generate thematic maps for user-selected variables; construct new variables from existing ones; build queries and map query results; provide zoom, pan and identify functionality; connect to remote URLs; display multiple geographic layers; add map labels, etc.
The main differences are in map navigation. In particular:
- to zoom in, press CTRL and click map with your mouse (or drag the mouse to generate a zoom in rectangle)
- to zoom out, press CTRL and SHIFT simultaneously, and click map with your mouse (or drag the mouse to generate a zoom out rectangle)
- to pan, press ALT and drag the mouse to move the map image.
Your application may provide additional mechanisms for moving around the map. In particular, the default overview map (in the left upper corner) allows you to drag a panning rectangle - this will cause the map to pan so that the map extent matches the panning rectangle
- to access additional functions, right-mouse-click for a menu. A menu will usually contain the following entries:
- Zoom In
- Zoom Out
- Original View
- Point Info: will display attribute information about a point that you clicked on
- Search Web: will open Google search in a new window, to search for a name of the feature you are pointing to
- Label It!: will add a text label to a feature you are pointing to
- Metadata: will show map description text
