DOT was tested on a problem in which the grid was 64 by 64 by 64. The full grid of energies was computed for 10,000 orientations, or about 2.6 billion configurations. One of the test systems was a Digital Equipment Corporation Alpha Farm at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. This machine contains nine DEC3000/400 systems each of which has a performance of 70.8 Mflops on the 64-bit Linpack 1000x1000 benchmark and 26.4 Mflops on the corresponding 100x100 benchmark. This Figure shows the wall clock
time required for the calculation as a function of the number of processors. A log - log plot of the same data is presented in
Figure 5b.
