In this figure the spheres are colored by energy as in
Figure 2, but the size of the spheres is scaled by the
similarity of orientation at neighboring grid points. This gives a visual correlation of the relationship between two distinct properties of the data. Here, similar orientations are concentrated in the middle of the cluster of most favorable energies. This indicates that the electrostatic fields are orienting the molecules prior to collision, a phenomenon called electrostatic steering.
