SDSC's 400-node Intel Paragon
Paragon-related activities for the next couple of months...
1) Create and maintain an Operator Procedures handbook:
a) Summarize procedures such as:
- Who to contact for various problems
- How to boot the PARAGON and XRAY systems
- How operators are to handle filled filesystems
- How operators are to handle hung system
- How operators are to disable/enable UniTree
- How to determine if the HiPPI interface is up
- Description of detecting "common" node or disk failures
b) Locate/update/distribute network diagrams
2) Hardware maintenance:
a) Provide a written escalation procedure for XRAY hardware support (done)
b) Provide a written escalation procedure for PARAGON hardware support
c) Consider putting together a written set of instructions for diags
3) Security:
a) Move XRAY out from behind the firewall (done)
b) Move PARAGON out from behind the firewall
c) Submit and track known security PTS
d) Maintain records and/or scripts of local security modifications
e) Get info required to run tripwire
f) Consider porting Kerberos to Paragon OS 1.3.
4) Upgrades and new installations:
a) Upgrade OS to release 1.3 (done)
b) Coordinate upgrade plans with User Services (done)
c) Install the Intel source product
5) De-Installations:
a) De-install BMP at the end of July
b) Coordinate de-installation plans with User Services
c) De-install beta release of HPF compiler (done)
6) SC'95 Demos:
a) Support Paragon-related demos at SC'95
7) SUNMOS Testing
a) Install the most current version of SUNMOS.
b) Work with Caltech to complete distributed benchmark
8) Install a C compiler on the DIAG workstations.

9) Write the utilities and install into /usr/local/sdscbin:
a) An operator's interface to clearing the disk error logs
b) A wrapper for maclist which allows consult to view reports
