Good point on the dual boot systems. I agree that when an NT system is
attached to a production IP net that being able to boot WIN95 on that
system would need to be prevented.

The networking group has a dual boot NT/Win95 operational in the
networking test area. Specificly, this PC used to support dial-in users.
The Ethernet connection lives on the MAC net for both OS.

Im surprised to hear that WIN95 is not supported. Is NT the only infotech
supported Intel PC OS?

Jay,

Due to lack of resources (people mostly) we simply can't support
Windows95 and NT. With only a handful of people we are currently
supporting 3 UNIX OSes, MacOS, and now trying to bring another OS into
production. That's about all we can handle.

Clearly there are also security reasons for not bringing Win95 into the
production network. From an Infotech standpoint we are committed to
supporting OSes which are in the production environment. Unfortunately
Win95 does not fall into this category.

The short answer to your question is, yes, Infotech will only support
NT, not Win95. We should probably make this announcement at some point.
