What are the chinanet mailing lists?

chinanet mailing lists are public lists for discussion and information exchange on topics related directly to China networking. All lists are anonymous, which means subscribers email addresses in the lists are not public information. Currently, there are 4 lists with different focuses:

discussion should be in English
technical topics only

discussion should be in English
technical topics only
focus on high-performance computing and networking

discussion should be in English

discussion in any Chinese encodings

How to subscribe to chinanet lists?

Send email to and put the subscription command line(s) in the message body:

subscribe <listname>

Note, the word subscribe has to be spell-out entirely. sub will not work. Please do NOT put anything else after the <listname> on the line and please unsubscribe from the same account you did subscribe.

providing the item, do not include the []'s around it.
It understands the following commands:
    subscribe <list> [<address>]
        Subscribe yourself (or <address> if specified) to the named <list>
    unsubscribe <list> [<address>]
        Unsubscribe yourself (or <address> if specified) from the named <list>
    get <list> <filename>
        Get a file related to <list>
    index <list>
        Return an index of files you can "get" for <list>
    which [<address>]
        Find out which lists you (or <address> if specified) are on.
    who <list>
        Find out who is on the named <list> (only if list is NOT anonymous)
    info <list>
        Retrieve the general introductory information for the named <list>
        Show the lists served by this Majordomo server.
        Retrieve this message.
        Stop processing commands (useful if your mailer adds a signature).
Commands should be sent in the body of an email message to
