The Internet can be a bit confusing at first. Fortunately, a lot of people have been there already, and learned just as everyone new to the Net learns - by experimentation. As a result, the tools available for making use of this vast information source just keep on getting better. Right now, the best tools are graphical interfaces such as Netscape and Mosaic, which can be used to tour the "World Wide Web", as it is called. The Web is a vast network of graphical "pages" that are interconnected in all kinds of ways. So, the problem is searching through these pages to find the information you want. And the best way to do that is to use a "Web Browser" or "Web Searcher". The best ones I've found so far are:
The best way to use the search tools is simply to put in a "Search Query", which is simply the name of whatever information you are looking for. For instance, I wanted to find some interesting sites for elementary education, so I put in "elementary education" and came up with 12 matches from Yahoo. For the same search with Lycos, I found 23 matches. The best part is, when you visit one of the "pages", which is as simple as clicking on the highlighted text, you may find other links from that page to more sites you want to visit.
