CSE 151 Policies
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Grades
Grades will be determined by your performance on the two
exams (midterm and final),
nine written homework assignments and three programming assignments.
Your single lowest written homework assignment score will not be
taken into account. The following formula will be used:
| written homework | 30%
|
| programming assignments | 25%
|
| midterm | 20%
|
| final | 25%
|
Written Assignments
You must work independently on the written homework assignments.
(See Academic Dishonesty, below).
Programming Assignments
You may work alone or in groups of up to three people on the programming
assignments. Groups will turn in a single version of the code, but each
member of the group must turn in their own
written document explaining how the program works and answering any
questions asked in the assignments.
All programming assignments will be done in Lisp and the code
turned in using the turnin utility. (Consult with the course
TA if you are unfamiliar with the turnin utility.)
Late Homework Policy
Homework (including programming assignments)
is due in class on the day given on the assignment.
Late homework will be accepted up to two days (excluding Saturday and Sunday)
late for 80% of your grade.
Examinations
Exams will be in-class, closed-book.
You may bring a single sheet of notes (both sides)
on 8.5 by 11 inch paper in your own handwriting.
We recognize that it is unrealistic to assume that you will not talk to other
students in the course
about homework problems, but it is considered plagarism to turn in uncredited
work that is not
your own. If you talk to other students about the problems, make sure that
your write-up is your
own. If you find the solution to a homework problem in a book or in the
solutions to another
problem set, the reference should be credited. Duplicate homework papers or
problems will get a
grade of 0. Since the tests will be based on the problem-solving skills
learned doing the home-work, the more time and effort you choose to put into
the homework, the better shape you will be in for the exams.
If you are found cheating on an exam you will receive a grade of 0
on the exam. Further action may be taken in accordance with the applicable
UCSD rules on academic honesty.
