About Card Trick
What would happen if a lowly deuce thought to himself, "I could be king"?
"Card Trick" is a computer animated short created in the spirit of traditional cell animation, using state-of-the-art three-dimensional computer graphics technology. In the aftermath of a poker game, the two of clubs experiences an identity crisis of sorts and decides that he would like to be king. What follows are the playful ventures of our hero as he assumes the role of royalty in a somewhat brief stint at the top of the deck.
Writer/director/animator Robert Herrick Russ began work on "Card Trick" as a student project for a traditional animation class at the University of California, San Diego and the San Diego Supercomputer Center. Original soundtrack was composed and performed by Paul Lackey and Jon Jenkins and recorded at Spotted Peccary Studios in Encinitas, CA. Computer graphics and post production facilities were provided by the San Diego Supercomputer Center, including SGI workstations and software from Alias Research and Interactive Effects.
