Robert H. Russ

Russ is an artist/animator who uses a variety of computer and media technologies to create
artwork. Since April 1994, Russ has been studying at the San Diego Supercomputer Center 3-D
computer graphics, video production, multimedia, virtual reality, and the use of computer
graphics to create abstract art. He received in December 1994 a bachelors degree in Computer
Graphics & Programming (cum laude) from the University of California, San Diego. This degree
combined classes from the Visual Arts and Computer Science departments.
"Card Trick," his first animated film, has received world-wide recognition in numerous,
prestigious festivals and competitions. Most notably, in 1995 "Card Trick" won the Gold
Medal for Animation at the 22nd Annual Student Academy Awards. "Card Trick" has also been
featured in over 20 festivals around the world, including the 1995 International Festival of
Animation in Annecy, France, SIGGRAPH 94,
NICOGRAPH 94, and Prix Ars Electronica 95. Additionally, Russ's abstract artwork has been
featured world wide in a number of galleries, and his image "Azure" was displayed in 1994
in the SIGGRAPH Art & Design Show. His artwork was published in the July 1994
issue of Computer Graphics World, the January 1995 issue of Silicon Graphics World, and
was featured in the cover article of the March 1995 issue of IEEE Computer Graphics and
Applications.
Russ is currently working at Pixar Animation Studios as a Technical Director/Animator.
