Java3D overviewThe state of Java3D

December 4 1995	Sun and SGI announce plans to develop a 3D API for Java. The partnership grows to include Apple and Intel.
May 27 1997	Version 0.95 specification released - first public viewing
July 16 1997	Version 0.98 specification released
August 5 1997	Sun teaches course at SIGGRAPH 97

As of this writing, no official implementation of Java3D exists and no schedule has been announced
