Visualization: John L. Moreland
All of the textured pictures on the walls of this virtual gallery were generated using a tool I wrote called im2wrl which uses the SDSC Image Tools to read any supported image file format as input, then it writes a bump-mapped 3D geometric representation of the image in VRML 97 format.
The perspective and scale of the room is an illusion created by a special floor grid which was generated using a Perl script that I wrote called wrlgrid.
The VRML gallery was designed to run on an SGI Reality Engine graphics system. Since it is too large to load on any desktop machine, I have included a larger screen-dump to look at online instead: gallery_big.jpg.
