MICE

Installing MICE Components


The MICE program requires that you install version 1.3 of the Java Runtime Environment as well as the Java3D toolkit available FREE from Sun Microsystems. If you have not installed either of these components, follow the instructions below before you run MICE for the first time:

  1. Download JRE 1.3 (with plug-in)

    1. Click the download link above.
    2. Click the gray "continue" button (half-way down the page).
    3. Click the gray "ACCEPT" button.
    4. Click the gray "HTTP download" button, and save the installer file.
    5. Run the installer and follow the installer's instructions.

  2. Download Java3D

    1. Click the download link above.
    2. Under the "Microsoft Windows (OpenGL Version):" section headline, click the "Please Choose One:" list and pick "Java 3D Runtime for the JRE".
    3. Click the gray "Continue" button next to the list.
    4. Click the gray "ACCEPT" button.
    5. Click the gray "HTTP download" button, and save the installer file.
    6. Run the installer and follow the installer's instructions.

  3. Download OpenGL (OLD WINDOWS95 ONLY)

    If you wish to run Mice under older versions of Microsoft Windows 95 you may have to download and run the opengl95.exe installer on your local computer system.

    1. Click the download link above.
    2. Run the installer and follow the installer's instructions.

  4. Download the MICE installer (OPTIONAL)

    If you wish to run Mice as a stand-alone application (that is, outside of a web browser), you may optionally download and run the miceinst.exe installer on your local computer system.

    1. Click the download link above.
    2. Run the installer (named "miceinst.exe" by default) and follow the installer's instructions.

Once you have installed the appropriate MICE components, you may Run MICE at your leisure.
