• Principle Engineer for the Synthesis Center
Responsible for the specification, construction, and management of equipment and software for a laboratory which provides advanced collaborative visualization capabilities to SDSC's scientific community.
• Systems architect for advanced display and visualization systems
Engaged in collaborative design and engineering with corporations, engineering consultants, and university engineering facilities. Provided guidance to staff and vendors for the construction of a 30ft/6000-pixel wide panoramic tiled display. Evaluated screen materials and custom optics to construct a one-of-a-kind circular polarized stereo display system which preserves.
• Principle architect of the Molecular Biology Toolkit (MBT)
Responsible for designing and coordinating the development of a web-deployable software toolkit for the 2D and 3D visualization and analysis of complex protein data. Provided guidance for UCSD post-docs to develop new data structures and algorithms for molecular visualization.

• Multi-disciplinary principle engineer for the High-Density Display (HDD) system
Responsible for the design and implementation of mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic, and optical systems for a one-of-a-kind tiled computer display. Engaged in collaborative design and engineering with a multinational corporation (JVC), government contractors (General Atomics, Argonne National Lab), a private engineering company (Reintek), as well as university engineering facilities (CRMS, PPS). Provided guidance for UCSD graduate students to develop tiled display software.

Awarded Provisional Patent

• Principle architect for a custom distributed graphics computer
Responsible for the specification, purchase, assembly, installation, and configuration of a custom 20-CPU parallel graphics engine. Engineering requirements included the integration of video transcoding, video routing, optical gigabit network interconnects, a 50-disk distributed 2 tera-byte RAID subsystem, and 10-way high-performance 3D graphics rendering accelerators.
• Principle architect of the Molecular Biology Toolkit (MBT)
