FOR CHEM 290 STUDENTS: As announced earlier, you will be responsible for
additional material beyond the Chem 190 material that everyone in class
is responsible for, and you will study this material independently (that
is, it will not be part of the lecture schedule). You are of course
encouraged to ask questions outside of class about anything that is not
clear to you.
In the book, the following Chapters and/or Sections contain material on
Special Functions, Fourier Series, and Fourier Transforms. You should
read these portions:
- Chapter 3
- Sections 4.6 and 4.7
- Sections 5.5, 5.6, 5.7
IF at the end of the course there is time to do some Laplace Transforms
we will add that, but we'll see how it goes. In about every other
homework there are problems covering this material that you are
responsible for. The first homework set that contains problems on
Special Functions is Homework No. 3 and it involves only Chapter 3.
