For Macintyre Korff

Allan Snavely

Go down the dark tunnel now as you alway did
Turn neither left nor right but go straight on
Beyond to the Elysian Fields of terriers
Your just reward, the heaven of dog-gone

Find smelly things there galore
And scurrying mice
And waterfalls of light
And astral snows
Mingled with chewy boots
And luminous sprites
Swifter than addled chickens for your delight

You who were so implacable in life
Undaunted by eagles, cars, or property rights
Take the heaven of heroes now as though by storm
Nip at Achilles' heels where he forever strides
Bring laughter to the halls of heroes enthroned
Even the gods shall smile at such a fice

We who uphold The White will meet again
If so we hold with courage to the mark you set
Never to yield the good fight, not for size, or sense,
Or even strategy ever to give an inch

And entering Valhalla here a yipe
And rush to greet your slobbering kissess yet
