Storage Resource Broker (SRB) Account Activation

SRB is available for data management to any SDSC and TeraGrid user who has a compute allocation. These accounts must be activated before they can be used. Researchers who do not have a compute allocation must apply for a SRB data allocation; SRB data allocations do not require activation by the user. See the list below for further instructions on account activation.

I have a compute allocation, and I will be using gsi-enabled authentication (certificate proxies).

(This is the recommended method if you are already using gsi-enabled authentication. Once you have activated your SRB account, creation of a certificate proxy on a compute resource will authenticate you for SRB.)
I have a compute allocation, but I prefer to use a separate SRB login and password.

If you were instructed by get_srb_setupfiles to complete a form for your SRB password, choose this option.
(If you are using your username and password to log in to a compute resource and do not wish to learn gsi-enabled authentication, or if you will be transferring files from your laptop or other workstation where you will not be installing Globus, you may wish to get a separate, password-based login for SRB. Using SRB from your local laptop or workstation will allow you to see and manage files there along with those at SRB-enabled resources as if they were a single, logical directory.)
I have a SRB data allocation.

Users who have already applied through DataCentral and the Partnerships Online Proposal System (POPS) for databases or other collections .
I do not have a data or compute allocation, and I want to learn more.
