SDSC Ground Breaking Ceremony
SDSC begins major expansion

The SDSC ground breaking ceremony for the expansion of the San Diego Supercomputer Center
took place on the Thursday, June 8, 2006, at 2 pm in the SDSC parking lot near the east
entrance of the building.
Chancellor, Marye Anne Fox, Dean of Jacob school of Engineering,
Frieder Seibel, Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies, Richard Attiyeh,
Senior Vice Chancellor, Marsha Chandler, and Director of OCI, Daniel Atkins (joined us virtually)
were among the distinguished guests.
The building is scheduled for completion in 2008 and will add 80,000 square feet of additional office, meeting, and infrastructure space. New facilities include an advanced visualization lab, a 250-seat reconfigurable auditorium, and an expanded
machine room.
