Word from User Support

We're pleased to provide this latest version of SDSC Thread for your enjoyment. The past few weeks have been an intense time for the user services staff in supporting SDSC in developing a strong response to NSF's HPC Hardware competition. We spoke with many of you during this proposal process to ensure our proposed plans most effectively address user needs and that we deliver a high-quality proposal. Thank you for all your support and the many strong "User Testimonials" we received! We expect to hear about this proposal in the July/August 2006 timeframe.

In addition to the SDSC Thread as a means of sharing information on user needs and new computing capabilities, I would also like to let you know about the SDSC Nuggets. This is a monthly email that shares news about SDSC more broadly and frequently includes science results from many of you. If you would like to subscribe, please email nuggets-admin@sdsc.edu

Best Regards,
Anke Kamrath

Always use MP_INFOLEVEL environment variable or the -infolevel option when you invoke POE to help trouble shooting abnormal job termination problems, for example:
cp: cannot stat `/dsgpfs/username/dir1/program': A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
ERROR: 0031-250 task 160: Terminated
Setting either of these to 6 gives you the maximum number of diagnostic messages when you run your program. - Eva Hocks.
