Computing and Data Resources
SDSC provides UCSD researchers and students a wide range of services and resources for high performance computing (HPC). Scientists and engineers have used our powerful supercomputers and data resources to enable new discoveries in every discipline. To help researchers run on today's high-performance systems, SDSC experts guide users through a smooth transition from campus clusters to the center's high-performance computing environment, reducing time to results and taking science to the next level.
University of California researchers have special access to SDSC's OnDemand supercomputer. This platform features Star-P software, which provides a link between MATLAB tools on the client-side and the high performance parallel resource at SDSC.
A wide range of parallel computing software packages covering many disciplines are installed on SDSC's other supercomputing systems. Learn more about our machines at SDSC Compute & Data Resources.
In addition to computational resources, SDSC offers a wide range of resources for storing and publishing data, including an array of disk, databases, and tape with 27 petabytes capacity, more than any other academic institution in the world. UCSD researchers who wish to share their data with colleagues and/or the public, while ensuring state-of-the art management and archival backups, can stage their data collection through Data Central.
How to Apply
To begin using SDSC's data or computational resources, UCSD researchers can apply through the Academic Associates Program (AAP).
Consulting and Training
SDSC also offers free consulting services 9 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday by phone or e-mail. We offer walk-in consulting every 3rd Thursday of the month, exclusively for UCSD researchers. Services
As a premier data cyberinfrastructure facility, SDSC provides services, support, and expertise to the UCSD community. Departments and research projects across campus rely on the expertise and infrastructure of SDSC to enhance their capabilities and efficiency. By partnering with SDSC's for cyberinfrastructure services, campus partners are able to leverage SDSC's economies of scale, high quality services, and in-depth knowledge to further their own research and productivity.
