SDSC to Host Summer Seminars on Supercomputing
This summer, the San Diego Supercomputer Center is hosting a weekly series of informal seminars covering a wide range of high-performance computing topics, including scientific workflow tools, an introduction to parallel computing, data applications and management, and portal design.
UCSD faculty and students are invited to attend the Wednesday Summer Seminars free of charge.

Institute Establish Center to Study the Origin of Humans
Perhaps the oldest question in the world is "where do I come from?" To help answer this question from a scientific perspective, a multidisciplinary group of researchers at UC San Diego, along with colleagues at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, have established a center to formally explore the origins of humanity and the many facets of what makes us human.
