Software Stack Upgrade for Gordon Comprehensive Application and OS Upgrade Scheduled for June 2013 Data Oasis and NFS Storage Not Affected An operating system and applications software stack for Gordon is planned to start on Monday, June 24,2013. The upgrade process for the compute, vSMP, and I/O nodes is expected to take two days. Please note that this upgrade will not impact user data on the parallel lustre (Data Oasis) and the NFS filesystems. Compilers and MPI distributions will be upgraded

Still One of World's Fastest HPC Systems Gordon, the unique data-intensive flash-based HPC resource at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at the University of California, San Diego, holds the 88th position in the Top500 rankings of the world's fastest supercomputers, released this week at SC12 in Salt Lake City, UT. SDSC researchers submitted an entry for Gordon using 218 teraflops per second (TFLOPS) and 12,608 cores – about 75 percent of the system. Built by SDSC researchers
