Participation Benefits and Responsibilities

In consideration for the non-refundable, Annual Participation Fee, participating organizations will receive the following benefits and assume the following responsibilites:

 

A. SDSC Space

Participants in the SD-NAP neutral interconnection facility may safely locate equipment in a climate controlled, access-restricted area with conditioned power and 24-hour staffing available for rebooting equipment. Participant pays for parking fees and has escorted access to SD-NAP during normal SDSC working hours, which are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. After-hours visitations may also be made by appointment. Space is offered in SDSC provided relay racks with inexpensive 4u, 10u and other options. Power installation is additonal. See Participatioin Agreement for addtional infomation.

B. Meetings and Seminars

Participants will be invited to attend pre-scheduled CAIDA Seminars and open technical presentations. Participants are also welcome to schedule tours of the SDSC facilities for their employees and their guests.

C. Peering

Participants must establish peering with other NAP participants. This may be either bilateral or multilateral peering between network participants. It is recommendedthat all participants establish a peering session with the NAP route server. All peering connections with the SD-NAP must be implement with standard BGP-4 protocol. Private peering may utilize alternative protocols as specified in the private peering agreement.

D. Routing and Filtering

Participants are responsible for appropriately routing and filtering their customers' transit traffic as well as traffic which they originate themselves. Participants may provide transit service to the SD-NAP on behalf of other networks. There is no restriction upon selling transit across the Ethernet portions of the SD-NAP.

E. Serving Content

It is against the policy of the SD-NAP to allow any content to be served from equipment co-located at the SD-NAP. Network test equipment or Network servers (DNS) are welcome.

F. Networking Research

It is the policy of the SD-NAP to allow CAIDA to mointor header information at SD-NAP. This information is "munged" to provide statistics only. No PACKET CONTENT is ever saved. See Proprietary Data Agreement for addtional information.
