Data Services

Today's science depends on data. As the high performance computing community drives towards the development of petaflop computers, the need for data services such as storage management infrastructures becomes increasingly important. As a leader in data management for scientists and engineers, SDSC has responded to the increasing demand by actively collaborating with researchers and national scale projects to provide the both the computation and storage infrastructures necessary to keep pace with this growing wealth of information in the sciences.

SDSC currently hosts more than 5 petabytes of data, which includes a number of public and private databases and data collections representing work from a wide range of scientific domains. However, the center has the capacity to host more than 27 petabytes of data.

SDSC's Data Central offers users a wide range of professional services and resources as a national hosting environment for public data collections of importance in the science, engineering, education, social science, art and humanities communities. Data Central services and expert staff also support publication, sharing and preservation of community data all with professional, qualified 24/7 support. More info about the resources can be found at at SDSC's Data Central.
