Looking for rocks of Cenozoic age using semantic mediation with an ontology system produces a “smarter” query that finds abundant rocks by including rocks of both Quaternary age, the second period of the Cenozoic (yellows), and Tertiary age, the first period of the Cenozoic (darker colors). Gray indicates absence of Cenozoic rocks.
