Data Intensive Grid Benchmarks
Title: Data Intensive Grid Benchmarks
Authors: C.Baru, H.Casanova, A.Snavely
Abstract: We propose to create a set of representative Grid benchmarks, which wil embody challenging usage scenarios with an emphasis on large data usage. These will help Grid architects to understand how real applications (many under development) will use the Grid. Benchmarks will validate Grid middleware and serve to inform the design process. By having benchmarks available early in the deployment of Grid infrastructure and middleware, users will be able to obtain feedback and influence on expected Grid quality of service. Architects will get an advance look at user requirements. Thus, our benchmarks will convey information back and forth between people building Grids and people planning to use them.
