GeMS: Grid-enabled Mediation Services

Chaitan Baru baru@sdsc.edu

Federating autonomous information sources is a common requirement across almost all science disciplines. We will describe some of the concepts in this area and technologies that are being developed at SDSC. The Grid-enabled Mediation Services (GeMS) is a nascent effort at SDSC which marries database mediation technology with other grid services and standards. We will describe how this technology will be used in projects like GEON--the Geosciences Network.
