Federating autonomous information sources is a common requirement
across almost all science disciplines. We will describe some of the
concepts in this area and technologies that are being developed at
SDSC. The Grid-enabled Mediation Services (GeMS) is a nascent effort
at SDSC which marries database mediation technology with other grid
services and standards. We will describe how this technology will
be used in projects like GEON--the Geosciences Network.
The San Diego Supercomputer
Center (SDSC) is a research unit of the University of California,
San Diego, and the leading-edge site of the National Partnership for
Advanced Computational Infrastructure. SDSC researchers conduct studies
in computational science, develop high-performance computing and networking
technologies, and participate in NPACI activities.
