The Jini Architecture: Evolvable Service Networks for an Unpredictable World

The Jini network technology makes it easier to write reliable, robust, and flexible networks of services. Services are largely self-managing, letting the service implementor pick wire protocols, distribution strategies, business logic, etc., without any modification to clients. It provides a higher level abstraction than existing network technologies (CORBA, DCOM, ...), which makes it easier to plug networks of existing systems together that can grow as new players enter the scene. It's also one of the most fun ways you can use Java without being arrested.

Ken will give an overview of the Jini architecture and how it plays out in design and implementation of systems.
