Title: Software Development in an ever-changing Environment

Speaker : Chantal Roth
Diversa Corporation

Abstract:
It would be easy to develop software if the requirements were well defined and the environment stayed fixed. Unfortunately, reality looks quite different: users often don't know what they want, or if they do, then the requirements may keep changing. In addition, even the underlying hardware, databases and deployment environment may vary as time goes by. We have been developing software in precisely such an environment for the past 5 years, and the tools and frameworks we have developed have survived several database changes, application server changes, deployment changes and company changes. I would like to present some of the things that have worked for us in the past, an example on how to integrate data, and ideas on how to get into the minds of users.
