Volume 2 Chapter 9 Screen Sub-menu *BTEST

Function

*BTEST is used to test for one or more bit screens.

Syntax

(a) *BTES n1
(b) *BTES n1 n2 n3 or *BTES n1 & n2 & n3
(c) *BTES n1,n2,n3

Remarks

*BTES n1
- succeeds if bit screen n1 is set
*BTES -n1
- succeeds if bit screen n1 is not set
*BTES n1 n2 n3
- succeeds if bit screens n1 and n2 and n3 are all set
*BTES n1&n2&n3
- succeeds if bit screens n1 and n2 and n3 are all set
*BTES n1,n2,n3
- succeeds if bit screens n1 or n2 or n3 are set.

The major difference between the use of *BTES and SCRE is that SCRE only allows the .AND. operation whereas *BTES allows.AND., .OR. and .NOT. operations.

It should be noted that any bit screens specified in *BTES tests are unaffected by the NOSCREENS command.

Graphics QUEST3D Procedure

Ex. Suppose you wish to find all hexagonal and rhombohedral entries (bit screens 107 and 109 resp.)

Select SCREENS from the SEARCH menu
The SEARCH menu vanishes and is replaced by the SCREEN sub-menu.

Select *BTEST

Type numbers (POSITIVE or NEGATIVE) of SCREENS for BTEST,
either separated by spaces or "&" if you require ALL tests to succeed,
or separated by commas (,) if ANY successful test is sufficient :
(Press <RETURN> if you don't want to define a BTEST)

Type 107,109 <R>

 Use HELP to decide what SCREENS (either POSITIVE or NEGATIVE) you require,
then select either SCREEN or *BTEST to define them.

Select TO-SEARCH

Basic QUEST Procedure

Ex. T1  *BTES  21  -22
QUES   T1

This will register hits for transition elements (21) but exclude 1st-row transition elements (22).
