THE EDIT MENU

Function

The EDIT menu is shown below.

It is used to alter:

element types and bond types in a structure
the content and multiplicity of ligands and repeat units
graphical properties of the structure, eg. orientation.

Remarks

The commands available via the menu buttons are fully described in this chapter, ordered alphabetically by command name or group.

To edit a structure you must select what is to be edited and then select the editing operation.

In addition to element types and bond types, six features can be edited:

ATOM
WHOLE
BOND
BOX
RESIDUE
GRID

Nine editing operations are available and their functions are evident from their names:

ADD
CENTRE
DELETE
REPLACE
ROTATE
SCALE
SHIFT
SYMMETRY
TWIN

The application of these editing operations is described under ATOM, BOND, etc.

However it is convenient to summarise here which operations apply to the six features:

In addition to the above, ligands and repeat units can be edited or deleted. These operations are discussed under EDIT-LIG, EDIT-REP, DEL-LIG and DEL-REP.

The menu also contains the utility commands: CANCEL, EXIT, HELP, REFRESH, UNDO.
