RENDER PACK

This display command is located in the 3D display for each hit.

It allows you to display the unit cell contents as a packing diagram.

Ex.

• Select PACK

• The 3D crystal diagram is rescaled and displayed at its position in the outlined unit cell, together with the symmetry-related molecules (residues) contained in the unit cell.

  The origin O is indicated and the three unit cell axes A, B, C.

  This is illustrated below.

  

  The display can be manipulated using the dialbox, just as for "simple" crystal diagrams.

  The display can be toggled off and on with the PACK button.

  Note that when PACK is toggled off then CELL is also toggled off.

  The packing diagram can often be better understood if the original molecule and the symmetry-related molecules are displayed in different colours. This is achieved using the SYMM-OP command in the COLOUR group.
