VECTOR

VECTOR is used to setup the vector from point 1 to point 2.

Points 1 and 2 need not be bonded.

QUEST3D calculates the direction cosines of the vector.

The points can be

either

atoms of the search fragment

or

centroids already set up<

or

dummy points already set up

Vectors are automatically named Vn with n=1 to 9.

Example

• Select VECTOR

• Select or type items for VECTOR. If necessary reselect VECTOR to
  end input.
  Select CANCEL to cancel command.

• Select the oxygen atom

• A red + appears at the O atom in the fragment and in the dialogue area there is:

  7
  Select or type items for VECTOR. If necessary reselect VECTOR to end input.
  Select CANCEL to cancel command.

• Select the nitrogen atom

• In the summary area we now have:

  V1  7  8

  This line is displayed in red to indicate that it is a SETUP command.

  If INSTRUCTIONS is toggled 'ON" then in the fragment a red arrow, labelled V1, joins atom 7 to atom 8.

  In the dialogue area we now have the "home" prompt:

  Search for ALL crystal fragments
  OVERLAP of crystal fragments permitted
  Select a menu command or TO-BUILD to return to the BUILD menu.

  The resultant command in the instruction document is:

  SETUP  V1  7  8

SETUP CENTROID, SETUP DUMMY, SETUP PLANE
