THE BUILD MENU
Function
The BUILD menu, shown below, is the "home" menu which is
displayed on first entering QUEST3D.

It is used to build a skeleton search fragment in terms of element types and
bond types.
Remarks
The commands available via the menu buttons are fully described in this
chapter, ordered alphabetically by command name or group. The functions of the
commands can be summarised as follows:
- DRAW to construct the fragment atom-by-atom, bond-by-bond in DRAW mode
- MOVE to construct the fragment atom-by-atom, bond-by-bond in MOVE mode
- ELEMENT TYPES to specify element types
- BOND TYPES to specify bond types
- TEMPLATES to display the TEMPLATES sub-menu
- GROUPS to display the GROUPS sub-menu
- CHAIN to build a chain of a specified number of atoms
- RING to build a ring of a specified number of atoms
- LIGAND to build a ligand of specified multiplicity
- FUSE to fuse two sub-fragments by a common face
- SPIRO to fuse two sub-fragments by a common atom
- REPEAT to build a repeat unit of specified multiplicity
- DELATM to delete one or more atoms
- DELBND to delete one or more bonds
- CLEAR to delete the complete fragment from the drawing area
- 2D-CONSTRAIN to display the 2D-CONSTRAIN sub-menu
- 3D-CONSTRAIN to display the 3D-CONSTRAIN sub-menu
- DEFINE-STRUCTURE to declare that the formulation of the search test is
complete
- FASTQUEST to initiate the search with tests combined by the .AND. logical
operator
- QUEST to display the QUEST sub-menu which enables the search tests to be
combined in any logical combination and the search to be initiated
- GRID to toggle a hexagonal grid of points to assist in the building of
"tidy" diagrams
- COMMAND to by-pass the graphical interface and input a single-line
instruction by typing it
- TYPE to display the contents of the instruction document
- REFRESH to restore the screen display
- CANCEL to cancel the construction of a test
- HELP to invoke the HELP system for information about a command or other
feature
- UNDO to reverse the last graphics command
- EXIT to exit from the current session
