Running PLUTO under UNIX

To carry out a PLUTO session under Unix, the command line should take one of the following forms:

Method 1 - PLUTO session using an FDAT input file

A root filename probname is given, PLUTO will read data from the input FDAT file probname.dat and produce list output to the file probname.lis. It takes the form:

        pluto probname

In the same way an interactive PLUTO session on the saved data file sugars.dat may be initiated by typing:

	pluto sugars

Note that the output files from this run will be named sugars.xxx.

Method 2 - PLUTO session using another input file format

Alternatively, using the -s flag, structure(s) may be read from the explicit input file rootname.xxx. The file format is recognised automatically and list output is written to the file listing.

e.g. PLUTO will read structures from the cif file sugars.cif by typing:

	pluto -s sugars.cif

PLUTO System Files

The following files are also used by PLUTO. These are provided with the system and the default files should be located automatically by the program.
